Bareilly: Students of Pandit Deenanath Mishra Inter College, Jogi Nawada, Bareilly, showcased their creativity and patriotism by making colourful and attractive rakhis dedicated to the country’s soldiers.
A Rakhi-making competition was organised at the college on Saturday under the aegis of the University Cultural Centre of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University. Students participated enthusiastically and used a variety of colours, decorative materials and creative ideas to design rakhis for soldiers serving on the nation’s borders. Through their creations, the students conveyed their greetings and best wishes to the armed forces ahead of Raksha Bandhan.
The activity aimed to nurture creativity among students while developing a sense of patriotism, gratitude and respect for the country’s soldiers.
Class 8 student Shreya Gupta secured the first position, Class 9 student Sadhana Gupta won second place, while Class 6 students Aarohi and Shivansh jointly secured third position. Other students, including Shreya, Sadhana, Aarohi, Shivansh, Antima, Dolly, Sonam, Manshu, Khushi, Nandita, Mishti and Alok, also participated enthusiastically.
University Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.P. Singh praised the students for their creative efforts, saying that activities such as Rakhi-making help nurture creativity while developing patriotism, sensitivity and a sense of social responsibility. He said dedicating the rakhis to soldiers was a meaningful expression of respect and gratitude towards those serving the nation.
Registrar Mahendra Kumar Singh described the initiative as highly commendable, saying that preparing rakhis for soldiers strengthens values of brotherhood, affection, respect and commitment towards the nation.
University Cultural Centre Coordinator Dr Jyoti Pandey said that a rakhi symbolises not only the bond between brothers and sisters but also security, trust and affection. She said the initiative was aimed at providing students with a platform to showcase their talents while nurturing patriotism and responsible citizenship through cultural activities.
College Principal Dr Binita Prakash encouraged the students and appreciated their participation. Manpreet Kaur, Sunita Bharti, Baby Sharma, Dr Pushplata Singh, Abhishek Chaudhary, Veer Gangwar and Anuj Baliyan, along with other teachers, contributed to the successful organisation of the programme.
